Economist에서 매년 발표하는 E-readiness Ranking을 발표하였습니다. (사실 발표한지 좀 됩니다.)

E-readiness는 각 국가별 정보통신 기반과 소비자와 기업들과 정부의 정보통신을 활용한 효익이 얼마나 되는지를 측정하는 지표 입니다.

E-readiness is a measure of the quality of a country’s information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and the ability of its consumers, businesses and governments to use ICT to their benefit. -the Economist Intelligence Unit

이번에 한국은 전체 등수에서 15등을 하였으며, 1등은 미국, 2등은 홍콩, 3등은 스웨덴이 각각 차지 하였습니다. (1등 부터 15등까지 표는 아래 표를 참조하시기 바랍니다.)

이들이 평가하는 방법은 다음과 같은 6가지 항목을 기준으로 평가합니다.

(1) Connectivity 20%
(2) Business environment 15%
(3) Social and cultural environment 15%
(4) Legal environment 10%
(5) Government policy and vision 15%
(6) Consumer and business adoptation 25%

한국은 6가지 기준에서 다음과 같은 평가를 받았습니다.

Overall score 15등
Connectivity 14등
Business environment 26등
Social and cultural environment 6등
Legal environment 21등
Government policy and vision 14등
Consumer and business adoptation 8등

내용을 살펴보면 사회문화적 환경과 소비자와 기업의 정보통신 적용에 있어서는 좋은 점수를 받았으나, 기업 환경과 법률 환경은 꽤 낮은 평가를 받았습니다. 기업환경은 북미와 서유럽의 주요국 뿐만 아니라, 홍콩, 싱가포르, 대만 보다 많이 뒤지며, 칠래, 몰타, 에스토니아 보다 뒤진 평가를 받았습니다.
